Information About Dan - York tutor
This is how a referee rated Dan:
I am an experienced maths teacher and tutor having supported students completing A Level mathematics and further mathematics courses across the main exam boards. I also have experience marking exam scripts for A Level Mathematics and am able to tailor my work to both my students needs and the the specifics of the exam boards.
This teaching experience is supported by the depth of study provided by a Master's degree from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences and a Bachelor's in Philosophy through the Open University.
I have also tutored University foundation students and supported home and international students through university applications in the UK and abroad so am familiar with the requirements for application and moving forwards. With all my students I strive to not just get them into university but also equip them with the skills to succeed once they are accepted.
I have taught in York and Cambridge for 8 years, predominantly teaching A Level students and am comfortable across all of the syllabus, really enjoying teaching mechanics and statistics but also in helping students discover the joys of pure mathematics.
In this time I have helped GCSE retake students obtain a well deserved passing grade as well as helped students apply to read Mathematics at Oxbridge colleges.
As a tutor I strive to provide the individualised support and guidance that is so difficult to provide in the classroom setting. I am convinced that, with the right guidance and commitment, anyone can understand A Level mathematics and try to provide a student with the opportunity to set achievable goals that lead them to their overall objective. By working on these small steps together we can then turn the "I can't do this" into a "I'm starting to get this" and eventually into a "wow, I can do this now."
