Information About Craig - Nottingham tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Craig:
Hey Math-letes! My name is Craig. I'm a polite, patient and enthusiastic 4th year mathematics (final year M-Math) student who loves cycling, running, music and cooking.
Feel free to get in touch if you're a GCSE, A-level or first year BSc maths student in need of a little extra help or wanting to secure a high grade. I won't bite, but I may set you homework.
I have extensive and varied experience in teaching, including tutoring A-level students in maths and physics, and teaching English to children and adults in China for a total of 6 months. At A-level, I earned an A* in maths and A's in further maths and physics. During my 3 years at university so far, I've focused on statistics and probability, currently scoring a 2:1.
2014-2015: Tutored maths and physics AS (freelance)
Summer, 2016 (Changsha, China): Taught English to students of a range of ages (freelance)
2016-2017: Tutored Maths first years (Uni of Nottingham)
Summer, 2017 (Shanghai, China): Taught adults English and western culture in group classes and 1-on-1 tutorials
I believe that learning only happens when knowledge is put in practice. Because of this, my tutoring strategy focuses on assisting with practice questions, steadily decreasing intervention until the tutee has mastered the topic. Of course a fair understanding of the relevant concepts is necessary before attempting to answer questions. Luckily, I have a skill for explaining difficult ideas in simple ways due to the analytical way my mind works.
