Information About Craig - Cheltenham tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Craig:
I am a 28 year old maths teacher who has currently moved to Cheltenham. As well as my subject I have interests in both science and history and pursue them in my free time. I enjoy taking part in sporting activities and consider myself to be not the stereotypical maths teacher
I am currently a full time mathematics teacher of students aged 11 - 18 years old. I have 6 years teaching experience of both higher and foundation tier schemes of work along with 4 years experience teaching AS/A level mathematics modules. I have extensive knowledge of the Edexcel exam board but have attended training seminars on additional exam boards such as WJEC, AQA and OCR.
Being a practicing teacher is a powerful tool. On a weekly basis I teach 12 hours of GCSE and 8 hours of KS3. The amount of exam exposure I receive on a daily basis has given me a plethora of inside tips and exam knowledge that a regular tutor would overlook or not be aware of. I believe in quick high energy tutoring that will make sessions flow and become enjoyable. As soon as tutoring becomes a chore for the learner valuable learning opportunities can be replaced with the familiar school time lesson grind.
I have researched in my current school the benefits of small focus group tutoring sessions where students use each other as scaffolding and support. These sessions have proven extremely beneficial as students learn the benefit of team revision and the skills needed to provided the correct support to each other. These students were observed to be more likely to meet of their own free will to revise unsupervised. It is documented that students who teach others skills they have learnt have a deeper understanding of that topic and a more accessible memory to apply in exam situations.
