Cornélie

I am a French national who moved to the UK over ten years ago. I am perfectly bilingual in both French and English. I have a Master’s in Security Studies at University College London prior to which I undertook a BA at King’s College London in European studies. My interest include current affairs and women’s rights. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and I also do enjoy boxing from time to time.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a teaching assistant at Fulham College Boys School in London, where I worked primarily with year 11s working towards their GCSEs in Maths, English and Science. I have a lot of experience tutoring young children when I was growing up where I took part in multiple peer-programmed while I school where I would help some of my peers study, and revise — specifically French and Maths. Additionally, throughout my university years, I have had the opportunity to take part in multiple projects, notably 'Europe at School' where I had to teach classrooms full of students about the history, and benefits of the European Union. Another experience of mine is a project entitled 'Language Olympics' where I was in charge of preparing tailored language lessons for A-Levels of all levels through the use of technology. Moreover, I am currently volunteering at a local school as a French teaching assistant, helping students develop their speaking and listening skills.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring firstly starts with making sure the student understands the value of the subject they are studying, and debunk any lack of confidence, which can stop people progressing. I always try to make my approach fun, and establish a good relationship with the person I’m tutoring first. I like to get a copy of the specific syllabus before hand and/or what exactly the student needs help with. My main goal is to teach and transfer techniques, and learning tools for the tutee to gain independence and confidence to succeed.
