Hi, I am Conall. I am extremely passionate and enthusiastic about teaching with a patient attitude who believes that the most complex of things can be explained in the simplest of ways. I truly believe that everyone can fulfil their full potential and this can be attained with some guidance and hard work. I am conscientious and empathetic and enjoy the satisfaction of helping someone improve and achieve levels of attainment that they did not think they were capable of doing.
I began teaching eleven years ago and have worked as an A-Level Examiner of AQA Business for the last ten years. I have taught GCSE and A-Level Business as well as Economics to University Level. I use everyday examples to explain difficult topics and have taught students from a wide range of backgrounds for many examination boards including CCEA, AQA, OCR and EDEXCEL. I like to do past papers with students from the last 5-10 years.
I believe in tailoring my tuition depending on the student's individual needs as I understand and respect that each student is unique. The first step I take in my approach to tutoring new students is to understand and assess their strengths and weaknesses. I use different styles and methods of teaching depending upon the student's ability and attitude. My main method is to first listen to the students problems and help them to come to the correct solution making sure that they understand and are involved in each and every step. I imbue in my students the necessary confidence to ask me questions without any hesitation and often use everyday life experiences to explain subjects. Over the course of my long teaching and examining experience I have learnt the main reason why students achieve lower grades are lack of knowledge, lack of exam preparedness and lack of time management skills during actual exams and practice to recognise key words/key sentences in exam questions. I will always bring the real world of Business and Economics into our tutorials, which makes them a lot more fun to teach as well as to learn. I will also emphasise exam technique, which is critical at every level to achieve the highest grade you can
