I think Maths is a fantastic subject that is so rewarding to study and understand. I hope I can pass on my enthusiasm to students. I went to a local primary school, then received an 11+ scholarship to a private secondary school. My personal results are pretty competent, with straight A*s in my GCSEs, and in A levels, getting full marks in 13 A Level Maths modules covering up to Core 4, Further Pure 2, Statistics 3, Mechanics 3 and Decision 1. I went on to study Maths at the University of Edinburgh, where I got top of the year in 3 of my courses, and a prize for Logic. Also, I'm a keen sailor and in 2016, I came 5th at the U21 Women's Europeans and qualified to train full-time on the British Sailing Team. After this result, I decided I would love to be a professional sailor and have deferred my place at University to be on the Olympic programme. All money earned tutoring goes towards my Olympic sailing campaign.
I really believe that it is hard work, and not talent, that helps you achieve your goals. I'm glad you're seeking tutoring, as I always had a tutor when I went through school and found it really helpful. I hope I can transfer some of the lessons I've learnt in my Maths career onto my students.
For a 21 year old, I have quite a lot of experience working with children. I have volunteered in a pre-school, and babysit often. I am a qualified race coach for sailing, and do anything from teaching complete beginners to coaching competent youth sailors amongst the best in the country. It wasn't long ago that I took GCSEs and A Levels myself, so am familiar with common problems and have plenty of exam tips. I have experience tutoring online and in person, teaching a range of secondary level maths. I have no preference to ability, but do expect my tutees to be willing to learn and ask questions!
I am very patient and can explain things clearly. I enjoy doing maths and teaching maths and really want to make a difference.
