I am a Primary school teacher, based in Salisbury. I taught in the Midlands for 5 years, teaching throughout Key stage 2 with several years in Year 6, as well as tutoring pupils on a one to one basis at my school to help children with the gaps in their learning. I spent 4 years teaching at an all through school in Ibiza and since moving to Salisbury, I have taught across KS2 and in Year 7 as well.
As part of my teaching role in Year 6, I have run booster and challenge sessions for small groups of children, in Reading, Writing and Numeracy, helping the children to develop the skills they need for their SATs tests. I have also done focused one to one tuition, focusing on the specific needs of pupils.
I firmly believe that children learn best in a supportive, fun environment. My aim is to make any tutoring session interactive and fun, using ICT and practical activities wherever possible to help spark children’s enthusiasm, and as with my everyday teaching, I find this strategy produces great results for the children.
