I have completed a MA in Religion and Public Life and now work as an A-Level lecturer of Philosophy, Religion and Ethics at a local FE College. I have taught both the OCR and AQA Religious Studies Specification: Philosophy of Religion and Ethics modules.
I am fully qualified as a Teacher of Religious Education (11-19years old) and as well as Religious Studies, I also have an interest and previous experience supporting students with learning difficulties such as Autism, Dyslexia and hearing impairments. I have British Sign Language Level 1 certificate too.
I also have valuable experience working as an assistant examiner marking RE GCSE and AS/papers which informs my teaching practice and supports my students with recognising how to approach examination questions.
During my teacher training year I taught in two mainstream secondary schools, teaching History, RE and PSHE. I taught RE GCSE and A-Level from two different syllabus's and gained valuable experience of effectively explaining difficult philosophical and religious topics to students of all abiltiies.
I have considerable experience working on a 1:1 basis with my students with great success. My last tutee impoved his RE GCSE grade from E to a B with my support and encouragement. I also work with post 16 students with study skills support.
I am currently a full, time lecturer of Philosophy and Ethics: I teach over 40 AS/A2 students.
As well as my subject knoweldge, I pride myself in being a friendly, approachable and enthusiastic tutor. This enables me to build a good relationship with both student and parents to effectively listen to student's areas of weakness and concerns, and offer appropriate resources and 1:1 support.
