I have been teaching Art and Design in schools to pupils from the ages of 7 to 18 for nineteen years. I am very experienced at teaching GCSE Art and Design and have a sound knowledge in my field. I see art as an important medium for learning. I believe that students can learn and observe, through Art, about the world in which they live. Allowing them to grow in imaginative thought and experimentation. I am a highly creative person who seeks to focus on the inventiveness of the individuals I work with.
In my last three teaching posts, I have taught Art to A level and GCSE students. I particularly enjoy the creating and practical side of art but also the contextual aspect of studying other artists. I have extensive experience of using a variety of different materials, including, clay, print, paint, photography and textiles. I have a very good knowledge of Art History, having taught this as a separate subject for 8 years at A level. I have helped students with the written element of the Personal Study within A level Art and Design.
Encouragement and helping students make their own decisions is important to my teaching. I am calm, patient and have a very caring approach to teaching. I am precise and clear in delivering information to students. All of which builds confidence and a level of trust between teacher and learner. I help students make the most of their creative abilities, bringing out the best in each individual. I believe that we are all artists and with the right encouragement students can enjoy the process of Art and Craft GCSE as well as reaching high standards.
