I am a 33 year old female who has taught for many years.
I currently teach in in Hertfordshire (EN8), but I can commute to several different areas including Waltham Forest, Islington and Enfield.
I am a qualified teacher, who has teaching experience in Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 (KS1) and Years 4 & 5 (KS2).
I have tutored several children in preparation with Year 6 SATS and I have marked Mathematics SATS papers for the exam board for 6 years. (With a marking grade of 'Excellent').
I have a wealth of experience working with a wide variety of children including those with behaviour concerns, English as a Second Language. In addition I have a strong background in Special Educational Needs, as prior to starting teacher training I worked as an LSA for over a year. I worked with children with Autism and Speech and Language difficulties, dyslexia and sight and hearing loss
Since qualifying as a Teacher I have been involved in two OFSTED inspections and in both I have been graded as an 'Outstanding' teacher. I am a member of Senior Leadership with a particular interest in Early Years, KS1 and Maths.
I try to keep my teaching as fun as possible. I use various different entry points to learning and feel that that the teaching learning process is not one that confines myself and child to pencil and paper, or even the classroom. Visits to museums, parks, art galleries, libraries etc will be planned if and when appropriate to allow your child to understand that education can be fun, exciting and interactive-not stale and stagnant.
In addition, I will need to know your child's current attainment level and information regarding topics and schemes of work taught at your child's school, so my input supports and benefits their schoolwork. I will also aid with school set tasks, i.e. homework, spellings etc.
I provide regular feedback to parents/carer as well as to the child.
I tailor all lessons to the ability and need of the child and set realistic but challenging targets. Extension work, certificates and stickers to be expected!
