Tutoring Approach

I see one-to-one tutoring as the time to identify and solve the problems that students have with understanding a topic. Dialogue is most important.
I encourage the student to keep asking questions (especially what might be thought of as 'dumb' questions and therefore not asked in a classroom).
I keep to a minimum the amount of practice questions. If the student 'gets it' we move on.
My key aim is to find an approach that suits the individual student.
