Having graduated from the University of Nottingham in French and philosophy, I spent one year teaching at the university of Versaille (France). During my time at university I gained experience teaching for Apple Languages summer shcool as well as doing some tutoring. I also gained tutoring experience during my time in France and worked as a language assistant in Paris during my erasmus year (3rd year at university). After I returned from France I spent three years teaching French and Spanish at school in South Croydon.I began as an unqualified teacher through the Teach First scheme gaining Newly Qualified teacher status at the end of my first year and full Qualified teacher Status at the end of my second. This coming year I will be taking a Master's at King's College London (International Relations) as well as tutoring in languages.
I have three years teaching experience in French and Spanish from key stage three through GCSE (French and Spanish) and A-Level (French) as well as experience teaching abroad.
My approach to tutoring is that with extra support and the time to go over what they do at school the pupil will develop the confidence to thrive and make maximum progress as consolidation is all-important in languages. Also, having taught for three years in the English schools system, I am aware that the nature of the syllabus means that some topics can be rushed. A focus for me as a tutor is to make sure that a love of learning is not lost and that the process is seen as fun. This way the pupil will be more likely to continue their language studies to reach a level that goes beyond whatever exams they are taking.
