I have been in the education sector for twenty years in both FE and HE colleges in conjunction with self employment as an aquatic consultant. My qualification is in Applied Biology and am able to teach this and any other biological related subjects including ecology, evolution, conservation, environmental management and statistics.
I have taught a wide variety of subjects both in a full and part time capacity, with learners’ ages ranging from 14 to mature (65+). I have taught a broad range of subjects as day or evening courses to groups of ‘mature learners’. I have taught all of the modules on the BTEC Fisheries Management Level 2 and 3 programmes, in addition to subjects from Level 2 to Level 5. At Level 3 I have taught Principles of Biology, Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Investigative Project, Biochemistry and Microbiology, Principles of Aquatics Husbandry and Management, Principles of Wildlife Populations, Ecology and Conservation, Fundamentals of Science, Principles of Inheritance and Genetic Manipulation. At Levels 4 & 5 I have taught Biology, Ecology, Evolution, Statistics, Biodiversity, Genetics & Biotechnology, The Animals’ Environment, Animal Ecology, Wildlife in a Changing Climate, Research Methods and Research Projects, Woodland Management and Estate Management. I have been employed as Head of HE in Marine Science where I lectured on a range of subjects including Marine Science, Pelagic Biology, Benthic Biology and Marine Resource Management.
I continuously seek new and novel ways to enhance the learning experience and my teaching is always student-centred. I am extremely dynamic and my methods are fun, innovative and inspiring.
