This is how 2 referees rated Christine:
I am a married teacher who is slightly older than I would willingly admit to. I began my working career in reseach and moved into teaching some time ago. I have always loved my subject and enjoy explaining it to others. I have 3 children, one who is disabled, one at University and one in the upper 6th planning to go to University in September 2013. I understand the pressures on young people to do well at first hand and like to help students to achieve their goals in life. I have a degree in Genetics and Cell Biology, a further degree in Immunology and a diploma in the teaching of children with special educational needs.
I have 30 years experience of teaching young people with a wide range of abilities. My principle subject is Biology which I have taught to A level. I have taught in several different schools in South Yorkshire. I have taught all range of abilities and supported pupils to achieve to the best of their ability. I have taught in main stream classes and to small withdrawal groups. I have also been involved with one to one support to boost specific areas of the curriculum.
I feel that a pupil should develop an independent style of learning and encourage young people to think for themselves, to be confident in asking questions and to solve problems. An understanding of the knowledge gained and how to find out more is important in situations where new information and concepts are continually being introduced.
