Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Chris, and I am an outgoing, friendly, and dedicated recent graduate, originally from Northern Ireland. Up until June 2017 I was a student at the University of St Andrews, where I graduated with a First Class degree in International Relations (MA Hons). I have recently moved to London to take up a graduate position at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and hope to maintain my passion for education and academia through evening and weekend tutoring sessions.

I am happy to work with students of all abilities - whether it be grappling with the basics of the subject, or trying to secure that A*, or preparing for university. As a result, I am more than willing to accommodate students on a long or short-term basis, dependent on need.

Alongside my main degree of International Relations, in my first two years at university I also took modules in Social Anthropology, Psychology, Modern History (c.1450 - 2006), British and Scottish history, and Middle Eastern History. My A-Level subjects were Drama and Theatre Studies (A*), English Literature (A), Government and Politics (A), and History (A*).

Thank you very much for looking at my profile, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Tutoring Experience:

At school I worked as a tutor and mentor to younger pupils one-on-one, up to and including GCSE. I helped students in a range of age groups whilst at university, including first and second year students.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style differs from many others, in so far as I do not operate on a one-size-fits-all policy. Rather, I offer a much more personal and tailored tutoring experience which focuses on the individual needs and strengths of my tutees. I am a very warm and friendly person, and am a firm believer that education should not be a chore - students should not dread going to a tutor after a long day / week at school. I aim to create an environment where ideas can be discussed and explored in an academically rigorous, but relaxed, atmosphere.
