Chi Long

Hi, I am Chi, I am a Post Doctoral Researcher at Imperial College London. I am a friendly tutor with a strong academic background. I have a MSci degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London with First-class honours. In my A-levels, I have achieved As in Math, Biology and Chemistry. In IGCSE, I have achieved As in Math, Biology, Chemistry and ICT.

I have been a graduate teaching assistant at Imperial College London for over 3 years, teaching a variety of courses, both theoretical and practical to undergraduate students. I also tutored and host workshops for undergraduate students for their chemistry courses. I also teach and mentor masters and PhD students in a wide ranges of practical skills and concepts, ranging from math skills to chemical biology and synthesis, tailoring to their strengths and needs.

I am also a qualified advanced first aider and an active volunteer with st john ambulance with in date Enhanced DBS Check. In addition, I have provided first aid training to both members of the public as well as university students. I am very experienced in explaining concepts in biology and chemistry to people of a wide range of background and education levels. I also have experience in working with children and young people in both clinical as well as educational setting.

Tutoring Approach

First, identify the learning styles that are suitable for them, identifying area of strengths and weaknesses and establishing a goal that we can realistically work toward.

I have experience in addressing different learner's needs and tailored the teaching approach accordingly. In my experience, most learners prefer a mixture of different styles to remain motivated. Specifically a problem-solving oriented style.

Quizzes and discussions would be carried out throughout the session for concepts checks to ensure a solid understanding of the subjects and their applications. Exams techniques as well as revision techniques also played a big part in achieving good results and would be more heavily focused on if required / nearer exams time.
