Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Charlotte and I'm currently a second year student at the University of Manchester, studying Mechanical Engineering with Management. The course is intense and requires in depth knowledge of Mathematics and aspects of all three sciences, especially Physics.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over four years experience tutoring students of different ages.
Throughout my GCSE's years, I tutored a younger student as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Award. I assisted the pupil with all subjects, focusing on consolidating the knowledge learnt in lessons and helping them apply this to homework tasks and in exams.
Additionally, whilst completing my A Level course, I tutored three GCSE students twice a week for the duration of their course. Concentrating mainly on Mathematics and Sciences,
Tutoring Approach:
I believe the best approach to a course of tutoring is through efficiency and organisation. Setting an aim at the start of the course, whether it be passing a particular exam or boosting a students confidence in a set of subjects, is key - students thrive when they feel they are going to reach a target set for them. Additionally, this will help me asses each students individual needs and thus create a lesson plan specific to them. Within the first few tutoring sessions, I aim to have develop a rapport with each student and assess what methods of learning work best for them. Where necessary, setting further work for a student to do before our next session is an effective method to maximise my limited time with a student. If the aim is to pass a specific exam, revision and exam technique is also valuable tool that I can integrate into my lessons.
