Good response and communication from Charlotte but due to tight schedules from both sides tutoring won’t happen unfortunately.

Charlotte has been an incredible teacher for our 15-years-old son during his stay in England. As a French student he was not at ease to speak and Charlotte's lessons have helped him a lot in gaining confidence and better understanding.

Charlotte was initially working with my son (8) for enrichment purposes around schooling; she flexibly and ably adapted to weekly sessions online with him since the school has been closed due to Covid-19.

She has an individually tailored approach, which is evident in the work she gives him. She prepares materials for the sessions at least a day in advance so that he can begin the session with all the materials in hand.

She has a nice rapport with my son and easily engages him. I’ve overheard portions of their sessions as they are now online, and Charlotte provides clear and thoughtful answers, always encouraging him to think more and to learn. My son enjoys the sessions and does not complain about them.

They do a nice mixture of reading comprehension materials, creative writing, logic games and maths. He takes his homework seriously and it’s a nice balance of activities for him (I asked for homework to be set).

We’ve been very pleased and we are very appreciative during this difficult time to have another set of eyes on his education.

Charlotte has been helping my two sons with English since 2014 and has been an excellent tutor. She has been very patient and helpful and she is quite flexible on her teaching approach. Her lessons are clear and engaging and both my son's English skills have improved significantly. She helped my eldest son pass the 11+ exam. Currently, we are doing online teaching with my second son for the 11+ which has proven to be highly effective. Would highly recommend!

Charlotte is a great tutor with an ambitious yet also perceptive and individual approach suited to the child. She has been working with my daughter (now in Y7) for the last three years, both in person and through Skype. Charlotte is a wonderful teacher. She has taught our son English for over 2 years now and in that time he has flourished. She is patient, supportive and has really nurtured his creative writing. As a result of COVID-19, teaching has moved on-line but this hasn’t had any impact on his learning. It’s a joy to hear our son and Charlotte interact during the lesson, I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

We have been using Charlotte's support for nearly 5 months now and are very happy. Our son (13) is very much engaged in the sessions: he finds them varied and interesting as he is learning a lot. We also think that he enjoys the stimulation as there is a lot of discussion between Charlotte and our son. She clearly respects our son's views whilst challenging his thinking at the same time; that's exactly what he needs. This is something we have recently been able to observe first hand as we have had to move sessions online as a result of the lockdown. Charlotte was very prompt in offering this safe yet effective solution and we've been able to carry on. Of course, online tutoring can't quite replace face to face tutoring but we are glad we are able to have Charlotte's valuable input whilst the schools are still closed.

Charlotte is an excellent teacher. I am a GCSE student, and Charlotte has been tutoring me in English language and literature for nearly a year.

Even in these times of uncertainty (COVID-19 lockdown), she continues to give her lessons via Skype. I have gotten used to this situation very quickly. It is essentially the same as a normal one-on-one lesson: materials are emailed in advance, and the lesson productivity is similar.

I would highly recommend Charlotte as a tutor, especially during lockdown, as her lessons are particularly useful in continuing to develop English skills, both language and literature.

Earlier this year I was looking for a tutor for my 10 year old son, predominantly to work on English. After discovering Charlotte via First Tutors, he has been visiting on a weekly basis, which he thoroughly enjoys and I have felt that the 1:1 sessions with a patient, knowledgeable and approachable tutor (Charlotte!) have been very beneficial. I have seen an improvement in my son's approach to a wide range of English challenges, enhancement of his skills and equally importantly he now has more confidence in his own abilities.

Charlotte is an absolutely wonderful tutor. An extremely knowledgeable and patient teacher ,she prepares meticulously for the lesson ahead. On several occasions she has answered my queries whenever I've had them outside lessons, and I have always felt the lesson itself to be structured and useful. I often wish I brought a dictaphone with me! I would have absolutely no hesitations in recommending her to someone, and I feel extremely lucky and grateful to have her as my tutor.

***UPDATE*** I got an A*! With 96% across A2, and full **Telephone Number Removed** s on my A2 exam, I absolutely could not have done it without her, we went through the subject material, syllabus and we always worked to find out what I needed to do to succeed. With Charlotte's help I got this in a single year (I did the A-level intensively), and without having done English for at least 2 years.

For me, the challenge for a good tutor is whether they can genuinely think of the individual and adapt their approach. Charlotte can do this.

She is interested in my son and very much works with him. She is sensitive,thoughtful and supportive in her approach. She clearly reflects on the lesson just gone in preparation for the next one. My son particularly likes her choices of poetry and reading material; which he seems to connect with. He tells me, he barely notices the hour go by! That is some compliment from a 14-year-old boy!

Very enjoyable pre university English Literature sessions for mature student. Charlotte is well prepared, and has assessed very quickly what my learning needs are. She gently guides you to find the correct answers, whilst allowing you to explore and express your own ideas. I highly recommend her to any age group.

Having studied an English Language A level with Charlotte since September I can reliably say she is an excellent tutor for both myself and my father taking the course with me. Not being a subject she had taught in the past, we were most grateful when she said she would take us on as students. I completely agree with my daughter. Charlotte is a talented tutor, with apparently inexhaustible patience and sense of humour. **UPDATE**

We have just received our results, and both my daughter and I were awarded A* (94% and 96%). When I say that this was a new A-level course, with no past papers, few recommended resources, and that the course textbook was not available until six weeks before the exams, you will see what an incredible job Charlotte pulled off for us. She effectively constructed a course for us using her experience and breadth of knowledge, and gave us the capability to perform far beyond our expectations of ourselves. As a result, my daughter will start at her first-choice university in a few weeks, and her academic life is back on track. Thank you seems inadequate. Anyone lucky enough to be tutored by Charlotte will have the rare privilege of experiencing teaching at its best, and will also have a rewarding experience, but first and foremost will have fun.

Charlotte has tutored my son for the past 6 months. During this time my son found her tutoring beneficial. Charlotte decided to suddenly stop tutoring with us recently due to a lesson being cancelled ( my concerns over Charlotte spreading a bad cold onto my son) with Charlotte expecting full payment for the lesson and nothing less sufficing. I do feel that having accommodated Charlotte on a couple of occasions when she cancelled lessons due to other commitments some more flexibility could have been shown on her part or consideration given.

Even during our recent heatwave she has managed to retain his attention over 2 hour sessions and he is only 12. Charlotte has helped Rebecca with English Lit and poems for a GCSE exam, Rebecca now understands Poetic devises, how to plan to write essay`s and Rebecca now has a better understanding for English all in all a great deal has been achieved in five lessons. Rebecca will continue to have tuition with Charlotte to improve her English which will hopefully help her in all her studies.
