The most important thing to know about me is that I am completely passionate about all things English. I am a grammar geek, love reading, love writing and, most importantly, I love teaching. I have recently quit full-time classroom teaching to become a full-time English tutor, as I find one to one tuition incredibly rewarding.
I have 12 years’ experience of teaching English in the classroom at both Primary and Secondary schools and have also undertaken a significant amount of one-to-one tuition both in schools and in students’ homes. Throughout the course of my career, I have held positions of responsibility within English including Key Stage 3 Coordinator, Key Stage 4 Coordinator, Key Stage 5 Coordinator and Head of English. Within these roles, I have run parent workshops, intensive holiday revision sessions and booster classes to raise student achievement. Over the past few years, I have been heavily involved in tracking the government changes to the English curriculum and implementing these changes into Schemes of Work at the schools I have worked in. I have also regularly worked for various exam boards as an exam marker.
• To raise confidence and aspirations in each and every student
• To enable each student to make clear progression in every session
All students have different strengths and learn in different ways and at different paces. As a one to one tutor, my aim is to celebrate these differences and provide each individual student with the tuition they need to meet their own individual goals.
