I am 31 years of age and have recently become a mother. My daughter Phoebe was born in September 2015. My partner, daughter and I moved to Bushey in October from Dalston where I lived for many years. I consider myself to be fun and enthusiastic with a passion for helping others. I grew up in Norwich and moved to London in 2003 to train as an Actor Musician. In 2006 I graduated and pursued a career as an actor for a while and played in a band for a number of years playing exciting gigs such as Glastonbury and The BAFTAs, before becoming a Primary school teacher.
I have been a qualified teacher for 3 years but have been working in a primary school for 6 years. Prior to my training I was a Learning Support Assistant working where I gained a lot of experience working with all year groups. I have worked with children with SEN, EAL and children who find accessing learning a challenge for various reasons. I have helped a lot of younger children with phonics and reading as well as assist with their handwriting. I have been rated as an outstanding teacher each time I have been observed and have been told I have an exceptional amount of patience when I teach.
My approach to tutoring is to find a way of children learning while having fun and being engaged. I like children to have an ownership of their learning and to be able to contextualise the things they are taught in line their everyday lives.
