I am a 33 yr old mum of one, who has many years of experience (16 years) working with young people. I am passionate about helping young people (whatever their needs) reach their full potential in education. As a child I thrived off teachers who were supportive, friendly and passionate about my learning, and this is the same ethos I use when working with young people. I have a degree, and teaching qualification specialising in social sciences . I have many skills and qualities including patience, the ability to help young people understand the work, listening skills, and perseverance.
In my spare time I am involved in some youth projects across Birmingham and act as an advocate for young people.
I have worked in many settings including both primary and secondary, and also children with special needs.
I currently work in a secondary school, where teach social sciences . I am also responsible for running after school interventions helping students revise, practice exam techniques, and strengthen their weak areas and coursework . I also provide support to students with other areas such as putting together revision timetables, techniques on building their confidence and general career advice such as completing successful college/UCAS forms. .
My approach to tutoring is firm, but friendly. Students need to feel comfortable and confident, and feel relaxed to learn and ask questions. Building a positive relationship with young people encourages learning.
