Bonjour !

I am Cecile, a professional French native teacher, with over 10 years of experience.
I passed a Masters Degree in Teaching French Literature and Language after graduating in Literature, Philosophy and Humanities in France. I also hold a Master's degree in Teaching French as a Modern Foreign Language and have followed a PGCE in languages course.

I am a friendly and open-minded teacher who believes that high expectations and quality enhance life. I use a range of formal exercices and playful activities to teach in an enjoyable way and pleasant atmosphere.
I offer small groups, one-to-one and in-company lessons, as well as, tailored French business courses and job interview preparations.

Last but not least, I am proud to provide a safe and reassuring environment for all my students, that's why I am enhanced CRB checked.

Tutoring Experience

For the last 9 years, I have taught French Literature and French Language to a wide range of students with a great variety of backgrounds in-person in Bristol, UK as well as online to students living in England, France, Denmark, Norway or Nigeria. Having helped and trained many students from 5 to 75 years old I am convinced that my passion will benefit your learning.

Having both trained and taught in France and in England I have got a deep understanding of both cultures and educational system, hence I adapt my teaching according to your needs and expectations.
I teach all ages and levels from complete beginners to advanced learners. I can prepare you with any French exams such DELF, DALF, GCSE, A-level as well as IB and Baccalaureate according to the French curriculum. I followed a PGCE course as well so I am up-to-date with the most recent exams specifications and requirements.

Some of my students were British, American, Spanish or Panamean children for example; others were bilingual children willing to keep up with their mother tongue whilst not living in France or French children and teenagers following French curriculum whilst abroad with their family.

I have prepared native speakers teenagers to successfully pass their French Baccalaureate or IB, British teenagers to get A-Grades to their GCSE and A levels, and bilingual teenagers to get their GCSE and/ or A-levels as successful independent candidates.

I have taught adults from several nationalities and backgrounds such as students, lecturer from university, journalists, PhD students, nurses, doctors, artists, lawyers, therapists, film editors, engineers, marketing directors or business owners to learn French for personal or professional purposes, either as complete beginners or by adapting to their current level to take them to the next one.

Whatever my students' background or expectations, I am always totally dedicated to my students' needs and I am proud to teach them in a way that their progress goes beyond their own expectations.

Tutoring Approach

MY APPROACH
In my opinion, you are never too old, too rusty or too slow to learn as long as you are willing to and have ambition for yourself.

Languages can be taught in a fun and efficient way being based on real-life situations with a particular focus on communication skills. The aim is to improve your knowledge of the French language to be able to take part in conversation in French and to feel at ease with it whatever your level.

YOUR LESSONS
The lessons are based on your needs and are tailored especially for you.

They cover all aspects of language, included colloquial idioms. I always make sure to structure the lessons around the 4 language skills: reading, speaking, writing and listening and I incorporate grammar point, speaking practice, formal exercises and playful activities for you to progress in a challenging yet fun environment.

The lessons are based on the Common European Framework of reference for languages (A1 to C2) to provide a guideline for your learning.

For students with previous knowledge, lessons are built around your existing knowledge in order to take you to the next level. Whatever the level you start from, I will give you homework and lessons to learn and practice in between lessons to embed the contents from the previous one and to be ready for the next one.

The learning material is provided and I am proud to provide each students with a specific follow-up which can be accessed in an online personal space. You will find your lessons, exercises or homework as well as extra resources for you to further your learning whilst not in the classroom if you wish to do so!

In order to achieve those goals, I use a well-structured scheme of work following a step-by-step way of learning the French language. Thanks to my studies and experience, I am able to explain the grammar and the nuances of the language in a way which is easily understandalbe whilst never giving up on quality. I believe that every student should be able to fulfil their own potential and I believe that my expertise will benefit your learning . I give a particular attention to accuracy and details and I always push my students to go an extra mile in their learning journey in a way that their progress goes beyond their own expectations.
