I am an approachable, friendly tutor experienced with children of different abilities and backgrounds. After finishing my A-levels with A*AAB from St Paul's girl school, I am currently studying Economics at UCL. After moving to the UK at the age of 13, I gradually improved my English skills and achieved A in English literature GCSE at last. My passion for math appeared since I was very little. The joy of solving mathematics problems not only lead me achieving A* in maths and further maths, I also won gold in the maths challenge and entered the British Olympiad for girls. I gained different experiences at entrance exams when I was applying to independent sixth forms such as St Paul's Girl School, Westminster School, Latymer Upper School etc. At my own times, I started tutoring family friends Key Stage Maths and Mandarin 2 years ago. Teaching English in China in the summer of 2016 also gave me more experience in tutoring. Growing up in China until the age of 13, I am not just fluent in writing and speaking Mandarin, reading Mandarin literature also became one of my hobbies.

Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring children Maths and Mandarin (KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE) 4 years ago and I have developed different approaches to different children to suit the child's best. Volunteering at the primary school as a part-time teacher also helped me to find multiple methods to teach the younger kids. I also had experience teaching English abroad in a high school for 3 months with children from different backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring methods are personalised with every child according to their goals and our available time. I will strengthen the child's strong points as well as improving their understanding of the subjects to build a strong base of knowledge. Towards the end of every lesson, I will leave a short time for the child's feedback to the session, teaching plan will be updated accordingly because frequent communication is very important for the progress.
