This is how 3 referees rated Catherine:
Hi! I am an experienced Maths teacher and have taught in a variety of different schools, from inner city comprehensive to a private school in Australia. I have a friendly and nurturing approach to teaching. My philosophy is that Maths is all about confidence and success breeds further success. I have school age children so understand all the challenges that school can bring, from both the mum side of things and also the teacher side of things. So I would like to reassure you that getting the best results from any student I teach is my top priority.
I have been teaching for 16 years and I am qualified to teach up to A-level standard. I do work full time as a teacher and I am currently 2nd in charge at the school I work in at present. I am therefore fully up to date with all the new specification requirements at GCSE and how to develop younger students at key stage 3 to meet these requirements.
My approach to tutoring would be a nurturing one. As mentioned earlier I believe self confidence is the key to learning. Working on a one to one basis with students is very rewarding as you have the time to invest in building up their resilience. The time could be spent building up strategies and different approaches to problem solving, which is becoming more and more important with the changes in the new curriculum.
