I am a graduate in French and German from Cambridge University, with many years' business experience in banking and management consultancy, including living and working in both France and Germany.
I am also the mother of two grown up children who have gone through the British exam system, so familiar with the British exam system and the different schools/universities.
I have a passion for languages and have kept my language skills active by continuing to take courses and by frequent travel to France and Germany.
I love reading French novels and watching both German and French films.#/k#
Several years running the education department at Guildford Cathedral.
6 months working in secondary schools in Guildford teaching German and French to 11- 18 year olds.
Experience of tutoring my own children to help them through various exams and entrance tests.
Currently tutoring a student for French and German A levels.
Qualified CELTA (teach English as a foreign language).
As a mother I am very aware of the stresses and demands on pupils as they prepare for exams and try to improve their grades. I understand what is required to get the best out of pupils and motivate them. I expect to cover the basic ground rules of grammar and vocabulary learning but think that learning languages should be fun and so will try to make sure we use a variety of methods to learn - including film, TV, music and use of authentic materials. Lots of work to encourage more confident speaking.
