Personal Description:

***At present I can only take on students who can travel to my home near Child's Hill in North London or who live very close by. I am now only taking on OCR English A-Level and ELAT students as these are the exams that I mark. I am also expecting a baby in September so will be away until mid November.***

Since taking my BA Hons. and MPhil in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Cambridge University, I have been tutoring and marking exams for over ten years. My area of expertise is exam technique, and I have a lot of experience helping students prepare for A-Levels, GCSEs and entrance exams including ELAT (English Literature Admissions Tests).

I have a strong track record of helping students to achieve high grades - recently one of my A-Level students was awarded full marks, and another achieved 96%. Many of my GCSE and IGCSE students achieve A* and A grades.

A number of the families I teach for are happy to provide references, and I also have a CRB check.

I live in North London and at present my students travel to my home, which is located near Cricklewood station, although I do travel to students if they live very nearby.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching English for ten years and while I have taught many students for GCSE and 11+ I have decided that I will now only be teaching for:

ELAT exams

OCR English A-Levels

These are the exams that I mark and I have decided to stop teaching for other papers as I will have to reduce the amount of time I spend teaching when I have my second child in September.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that any student can achieve high standards through a combination of good teaching and hard work.

Of course, every student will require an approach that is right for them, but during the lesson I always work hard to make sure that all material is explained and that the skills which the student needs to develop are exercised and sharpened. I set homework each week (this is usually exam practice if the student is working towards an exam) and expect it to be completed by the next lesson, where we then go through the work together.

I very much enjoy working with parents who take an interest in their children's education and very firmly believe that we are part of a team.
