With a passion for the English language, my world revolves around words, and I love nothing more than to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with students. My spare time is spent reading a wide range of texts, ensuring I am equipped with a broad overview of the many different styles of English students will encounter during their school years. I also make sure I am up-to-date with the set texts used within the national curriculum. I am also a qualified proofreader and copy editor which is indicative of the high standard I apply when assessing a piece of text. Additionally, my creative moments are spent working on a children's novel and I am continually inspired by my own family, the people I meet, and the environment in which I live.
I have been tutoring English (language and literature) on a one-to-one basis for over two years but I also have over six years' experience teaching adults how to use a specific software package within local government. This is delivered to a small group of employees and I have always received excellent feedback from participants.
Each and every one of us is unique, and I endeavour to get to know a pupil in order to tailor the session to suit their learning style. A classroom environment can be, inadvertently, an intimidating place for pupils, where it is difficult for them to progress, but I believe processing and retaining information is a natural outcome within a friendly and encouraging setting. I aim to make sessions as enjoyable as possible, incorporating pupils' natural interests into their work, igniting possibilities that, perhaps, English is not a subject to be scared of!
