I'm 26 years old and have been teaching for almost 3 years now at Secondary level.
I studied at Loughborough University and achieved a BA Hons in Graphic Communication. I then spent some time in the design industry as well as travel.
I then did a PGCE in Design and Technology at Middlesex University and have been teaching ever since.
I love my job and feel very passionate about giving the young people of today the best start in life. I have a variety of ways of teaching that I can adapt to the kind of students I have. I like to challenge them but also support and encourage them in anyway I can.
My background is Graphic Design and I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with others. That's when I decided to join the teaching profession.
I have now been a teacher for almost 3 years and just last summer got promoted to Head of Department.
My subject areas at Key stage 3 are Graphics, Food, Systems & Controls and Food Technology. At GCSE level I specialise in Graphic Products.
At key stage 3 level I would base my tutoring on building up the students subject knowledge and demonstrate technical drawing skills as well as presentation skills.
At GCSE I would support the student to get them through their final major project and do exam preparation with them. My first priority is to find out how best that person learns and retains knowledge.
As far as the coursework goes. I would give them a break down of what they need to cover and complete work in bite size chunks. Also improve presentation skills and technical drawing skills to make the project stand out!
Exam Preparation would involve revision sessions, again I would want to find out early on how that student learns best.
I would advise them on how best to work through the exam paper, to make sure they read the question correctly and how to achieve the best mark possible.
