I have a BA (Hons) degree in English and French and a PGCE. In 1996 I obtained the Post-Graduate Diploma in teaching students with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia).
I have spent the past year caring, as much as I was able to, for my elderly mother, who has recently passed away.
I am based in Ascot, Berkshire and teach on a 1-1 basis at home. I am CRB checked.
I have worked as a primary school teacher, teaching early years children and French to Year 6.
I have worked for nearly twenty years as a private tutor of children who have literacy difficulties or who have dyslexia.
From 2004 until 2013 I worked part time and later on a supply basis as a tutor for Dyslexia Action, (formerly the Dyslexia Institute) in addition to my private tuition at home.
I believe in careful, thorough teaching, tailored to each individual pupil. For my work with dyslexic children I am trained to use a structured, cumulative, multi-sensory phonics programme. I also believe strongly in making tuition enjoyable.
