Personal Description:
I am an experienced science teacher with a Master’s and Doctorate in chemistry, specialising in chemistry tuition. I am also an examiner for GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma chemistry, so have a deep understanding of what is needed for exam success.
Student results from summer 2017 (based on 16 students):
• 100 % of my International Baccalaureate students achieved level 6 or 7
• 94 % of my A level students achieved A* and A grades
• 96 % of my GCSE students achieved an A* or A grade
All my students secured their first-choice university places, going on to study medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry and law at top-ranked universities including the Royal Veterinary College, Manchester University, Edinburgh University, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College, Durham University, Queen Mary (London), Newcastle University, Leicester University, Bristol University and King's College.
I work as a full-time professional tutor, which means I am 100% focused on all my students, all the time. I can also offer greater scheduling flexibility than part-time tutors.
Tutoring Experience:
My professional experience has been developed through my roles as a qualified teacher of chemistry, an experienced tutor of chemistry from school level to degree level, and as an examiner for GCSE, A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma chemistry.
Having also enjoyed a successful career in the chemical industry, I have the real-world experience necessary to bring science to life and teach beyond the textbook. Drawing on my science and business background, I can add significant value by helping you with UCAS personal statements, interview preparation and coursework.
Tutoring Approach:
My tutoring is personalised to your individual needs, helping you to build confidence and master difficult topics at a pace that is right for you.
As an examiner, I have intimate knowledge of the exam system and understand how to achieve top grades. I will give you resources and strategies that will improve both your theoretical understanding, and your exam technique. I will also give very detailed feedback so that you know exactly where you are, where you are going, and what you need to do to achieve your target grade.
