Personal Description:

Expert science tuition from a qualified chemistry teacher and examiner with an outstanding track record of helping students to achieve top grades.

With a Master's and PhD in chemistry and over 15 years' teaching experience, I combine expert knowledge with an understanding of how to motivate and support students to achieve their potential.

Successes from last academic year:
• 100% of my IB Diploma students achieved level 6 or 7
• 100% of my A level students achieved top (A*-B) grades
• 80% of my A level students achieved an A* or A grade
• One student improved from an E to a B grade

All my students secured their first-choice university places, going on to study medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry and law at top-ranked universities including the Royal Veterinary College, Manchester University, Edinburgh University, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Imperial College, Durham University, Queen Mary (London), Newcastle University, Bristol University and King's College.

I am a full-time professional tutor so can offer more scheduling options and flexibility than part-time tutors.

Tutoring Experience:

My professional experience has been developed through my roles as a qualified teacher of chemistry (PGCE and QTS), an experienced tutor of chemistry from school level to degree level, and as an examiner for A level and International Baccalaureate Diploma chemistry.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have significant management experience gained within the chemical industry, so unlike most teachers, I can bring a reality to the theory and teach beyond the textbook. Drawing on my science and business background, I can add significant value by helping you with UCAS personal statements, interview preparation and coursework.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring is personalised to your individual needs, helping you to build confidence and master difficult topics at a pace that is right for you.

As an examiner, I have intimate knowledge of the exam system and understand which approaches lead to top grades. I will give you resources and strategies that will improve your understanding of theory and your exam technique. I will also give very detailed feedback so that you know exactly where you are, where you are going, and how you will achieve your target grade.
