I am a recent graduate from the University of Exeter, with a BPS-accredited BSc (Hons) in Psychology.
I am currently undertaking an MSc in Health Psychology at the University of the West of England.
I am experienced in Applied Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics; having conducted and analysed the results of several qualitative and quantitative experiments of my own, with significant results.
I would like to work with Psychology and Statistics students as I continue my own research and studies.
Teaching students either one-to-one or in small groups has always been an interest of mine; starting in 2008 when I began working with Stage Door One youth theatre as Musical Director, working on vocal arrangements and exercises with children and young people aged 5-21.
Alongside this, I have run my own show-choirs and soul-choirs since 2009; engaging with students age 11-16 to work on solo pieces, individual strengths and weaknesses as a musician, group performances, and general performance skills and confidence.
Both as part of my undergraduate degree and my self-directed work experience, I have delivered lectures in my specialist subject to a range of students, peers and professionals aged from 16-25 years. As well as working with GCSE and A Level students, I hope to become involved in Graduate Teaching schemes; working with undergraduate students in the fields of Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.
My focus is on student-directed learning: covering areas they are struggling with; isolating particular weaknesses and resolving outstanding issues; engaging their interest by focussing on links with their hobbies or real-world experiences; tailoring our focus towards relevant information for their progression within Psychology or academia generally; and delivering content that falls outside of the minimum requirement for GCSE or A Level success.
Top-tier marks require synthesis of information from apparently diverse areas of the topic; alongside additional insights and evidence from outside of the course handbook. Therefore, my motto is "The Extra 5%", and I strive towards enabling students to reach those elusive grades.
