I am a professional teacher and philosopher from Coventry and have studied religion for over ten years. I have a successful masters degree in Philosophy and am currently studying for a PhD in the same field to become a university lecturer. I am hugely interested in religion, its validity, and its influence over the course of history. I have participated in many debates across the country, written several articles (www.bobbysidhu.com), and am currently working on a non-fiction book which I aim to self-publish in 2021.
I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE qualification. I began teaching GCSE and A Level Religious Studies and Philosophy in a comprehensive state school in Coventry. I then went on to teach the same subjects for an independent school in Birmingham. Here I was also appointed as Assistant Head of GCSE, as well as a personal tutor to many students. Alongside pastoral support, I ran a debating club which encouraged critical thinking, articulation, and public speaking. My most recent students acquired 80% A*-B grades for A Level Religious Studies.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching young people and believe the best way to promote learning is to inspire, motivate, and generate genuine interest. I have a vast bank of lessons which I have created myself, all for both GCSE and A Level Religious Studies and Philosophy across many examination boards.
I enjoy active learning through activities and games, whilst still applying a strong focus on content, written examination technique, and assessment objectives. Each lesson is a progressive journey; I use Bloom's taxonomy to ensure learning objectives are clearly identified and achieved. I am also able to easily identify and adhere to different learning styles and needs.
I have been told that as a teacher I am extremely approachable, supportive, and patient, with a gentle aura and genuine passion for my subject.
