This is how 2 referees rated Bob:
I am a married man with 4 sons aged 14 to 22 years, living in a suburb of Bristol. My interests include walking, cycling and countryside with members of my family and two dogs.
I recently took voluntary redundancy from a sixth form college in Bristol in order to spend more time with my family.
I have taught mathematics for over 30 years to secondary school pupils of varied ages and abilities. On qualifying, I started my career at a comprehensive school in Middlesex, and being of West Country origin, moved to Bristol at the earliest opportunity where I initially worked as a Teacher/Youth Leader at a comprehensive school. After a few years I took up the post as a science and maths teacher at the same school. Since then I have taught maths in a developing African country for three years before returning to Bristol to continue teaching at several comprehensive schools in the city. About 15 years ago I started teaching at a sixth form college where I taught GCSE and A Level maths to older students.Throughout my career I have also experienced the different learning environment offered by Private Tuition and recognise the value of this extra support in increasing the understanding and performance of learners across a wide age and ability range.
I have always accepted that Private Tuition can be a very valuable resource to many students of all abilities since it offers a one to one experience which allows a student to become more confident. It also encourages valuable discussion and practice in aspects of the subject which are particularly relevant to the individual student. It also overcomes any feeling of shyness which may cause a student to under perform in a large group situation.
