Personal Description:

I have had over 25 years teaching and have also had a theatre company of my own. I believe that you should never stop learning and having new experiences, so I am always updating myself on new initiatives and love going to the theatre. I am also a parent with a son on the autistic spectrum and a daughter who is a perfectionist and therefore have seen how different strategies can help people with different needs to succeed.

Tutoring Experience:

I have many years of teaching in state schools, teaching Drama and English. I have been Head of Drama, Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of a Performing Arts Faculty. I have taught KS3. GCSE and A Level. Practically all my students have surpassed their target grades and my Drama results were always the top subject or near the top of all the results in the school. Over the past three years I have worked freelance, training teachers in schools, working in a hospital school with young people with mental health challenges, teaching LAMDA qualifications (I am also a LAMDA examiner) and tutoring in Drama, English, audition and communication skills. I have also devised sessions to help people deal with anxiety.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the key to being successful in education is self confidence and the belief you can succeed. When I first meet a student, I first learn about 'the whole student', how they learn best, and try to pull down any barriers which are preventing them to reach their potential. I tailor all my lessons to the individual and I believe it is important to make the lessons fun. You must want to improve, it can't just be your parents' wish!
