I have taught for nearly a decade but left the profession to become a mother. I can't seem to leave the profession entirely though (!) and I spent the summer of 2017 marking the language exams for AQA under the new 1-9 specification. I have been tutoring since November 2016 when I moved to Herefordshire from West Sussex. The pupils I have taught have gone on to pass and have clearly found a renewed enthusiasm for the subject.
With 8 years worth of teaching experience, including running an outstanding English department, I have taught the full range of abilities from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. I am fully attuned to the new GCSE specifications- specifically AQA but I also have experience with legacy specifications and a range of exam boards.
My teaching is based on a desire to see all children achieve in a climate of mutual respect, empathy, high expectations, ambition and inclusivity. My lessons are tailored to the individual student and their needs. Basic literacy skills and the building blocks of English are at the core of my teaching and I have always strived to provide a structured, challenging and enjoyable learning environment for all students in my care. Clear targets for improvement and a challenging pace, are embedded within my pedagogy.
