PE / Sport Science
I am a Physical Education and Sports Coaching graduate from York St John University. I covered sports coaching and pedagogy, sports performance conditioning and sociology sport. Furthermore I completed modules on learning disability sport and I have a special passion for this.
I have had 3 years of teaching experience working in primary, secondary schools and York st john university teaching PE. I have worked with a range of abilities, up to national standard for hockey coaching. I have coached hockey for 7 years, working with children from 8 up to 16yrs old and again from grass roots up to national standard. I am also the lead hockey coach of Selby hockey club. I have also coached athletics for 6 years, working with club members and county members aged between 10 and 18 yrs old. This coaching experience has expanded my theoretical knowledge with sports coaching and also enhanced my teaching ability.
In the near future I aspire to become a PE teacher working in a secondary school and the tutoring experience I can attain will only enhance this.
I am open to flexible styles of learning as I appreciate everyone learns differently. For example, discussing topics out loud and making small notes than just working through text books and journal articles. This method of discussing with tutors worked for me right up to university level and attaining my degree.
