Hi , my name is Ben and I'm currently an studying for a maths degree at Lancaster University in pursuit of the goal of becoming a maths teacher. I am very passionate about maths having participated in the UK maths challenge for 8 years achieving mainly gold and silver merits. Having recently finished exams I am very up to date on the current A level spec and so can provide good tuition for many all maths modules excluding decision and statistics. Studying further maths to an a2 level has massively increased my mathematical ability and I wish to help others improve.
Although new to tutoring I have many experiences in teaching and volunteer work that has improved by ability to tutor. For example in my spare time at school I assisted in the teaching of maths to lower year groups which helped me develop my communication skills between me and the pupil while also keeping me updated on the maths spec for all age groups. Another experience that has aided in my personal development as a tutor was assisting my brother in preparing for the Urmston Grammar entrance exam. He achieved a high mark (400+/423) , and the experience helped me improve my tutoring techniques to help him tackle any problem.
According to my peers I adopt a very analytical approach to tutoring others and am very successful in providing alternative views or approaches to solving a problem. I believe my strengths are my ability to break down a complex problem into smaller more manageable problems.
