I am a friendly, patient and hard-working individual who is dedicated to providing young people with the best environment and opportunities for learning as they need. I believe that every person has the ability to achieve, learn and progress if they are given the right tools and the right mind set. I relish the challenge of enabling children and young people to see within them the possibilities for change and growth that they often don't see themselves.
I have worked with pupils throughout the primary age range for the past eleven years, in a number of different roles, with children from year one through to year six. I have worked not only as a teacher, but also as a learning mentor, enabling children to address and work through the internal barriers they have towards their learning. I have worked with a lot of 'hard-to-reach' pupils on a Designated Special Provision unit for behaviour, providing tailored creative curriculum packages specifically designed to meet their individual needs and to help them progress. I have also tutored privately at GCSE Foundation level in both maths and English, helping pupils to pass their final exams.
My approach to tutoring is entirely person-centred. Every child is different and every child has different needs. My approach focuses on encouraging and empowering the pupil to see their strengths and successes and to celebrate them before moving on to areas of focus. By breaking down a topic into small manageable parts, my aim is to provide the pupil with achievable goals, identified with the pupil, to ensure their confidence is enhanced and their self-belief is promoted. With an enhanced self-belief, anything is possible.
