I am 20 years old and I am studying in my second year of English at The University of Lincoln. Previously I attended Queen Ethelburgas College in York where I studied both English and Performing Arts at A-level. I thoroughly enjoy the subject I study and believe that I will be able to help others who are either struggling with plays, poetry or creative writting in general, to enjoy, and excell in, English Literature. My aim is to become an English teacher in secondary school and I see this as a wonderful opportunity to interact with students and to gain invaluble experience on my pursuit in this career.
I do not have any specific teaching experience but I was a prefect in school which included helping teachers in class, organising tasks in P.S.E classes and being a mentor and advisor for other pupils who needed someone to speak to or a link to the teaching community.
My approach in tutoring is to try and involve the student as much as possible. If we were to write an essay on a particular book I would encourage my student to engage in a debate with myself to help build on ideas. If we were looking at a play, role-playing is always a great way to beter understand what is happening. I would also set my student taks for when we next meet to encourage them to work on their GCSE projects and to help develop their methods of analysis and writting.
