I take great care to build confidence and enjoyment, since from this comes progress in learning . I use my sense of humour and passion for the subject to build good relationships with the student. Consequently I tend to teach the same students for a number of years. I have a current DBS. I offer a reduced rate if the student comes to my home. I charge £20 for the first lesson as a contribution to website fee.
I have taught in a wide variety of educational settings including University (as a teacher trainer), State Schools, Private Schools and a Free School. I have taught from Reception up to Year 6.
I endeavor to make learning fun and creative. I use a combination of resources and try to explain concepts practically. I think it is important to always try to relate learning to the real world, so will example talk about the uses of angles when constructing a bridge. I ensure progress by assessing learning as an ongoing process. I encourage children to lead in the learning as this encourages independence and development of logical thinking. I take time to communicate with parents at the end of a lesson as a review of learning.
