Personal Description:

My name is Asif and i am 23 years old. I have a degree in Business Information technology which i achieved in July 2009 and then went on to complete my PGCE in July 2010. My specialist subject is ICT and i have taught this in schools during my course. I have experience of working one to one with students and find this really enjoyable as i like to help students with work they struggle with or even push them forward to achieve better marks.

I make learning interesting and fun and it is important to relate work to what students like. For example with some of my lessons, if we were creating a presentation - It could be about football or about movies etc. As long as students learning and using correct tools and skills to create their work - i find they will enjoy their lessons even more.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a decent amount of experience for my age. At the end of 20, i went to work in my old high school ofr one year as a work placement. Although i did not teach many lessons at first because i was a teaching assistant, i did work with small groups and individuals that has learning difficulties or behaviour issues.

After a few months, teachers from the ICT department had noticed that the students were responding to my ways of teaching and they allowed me to take on lessons by myself. I was the youngest ever teacher to work at this high school and still to this day i have students coming up to me in the street and asking me to come back to that school.

Being 23 years old allows me to mix well with students. it was only 7 years ago that i was in high school myself so i know what students find interesting, how they like to learn and what sort of tutoring they respond to. I am able to motivate learners and help them produce better work and results.

Tutoring Approach:

First of all it is very important to buld a good relationship with your tutitees. You need to be able to mix with the students as well help them learn. As i have mentioned before, i like to make learning interesting. Most teachers would use tests every wek to see how much each student has learnt and then give them a grade. Students are scared that they might have the worst grade in the class? My way is to use interative games and test students knowledge. This allows me to see what they have learnt and if the student is learning well.

I show students how to do their work in a time limit where it would take others twice that time. Keyboard shortcuts? Do you know them all, do u know how much time they can save. Tips and tricks with different software packages. I studied ICT in School, College, Univeristy and in my PGCE so i know all the new softwares.
