Private Physics Tuition in Doncaster

I'm Ash, a qualified Science teacher with a Physics specialism. I have a BSc in Physics and Mathematics, along with recent teaching experience at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

Outside of work I'm an enthusiastic amateur guitarist (i.e. not very good), a huge Formula 1 fan, and love Science Fiction.

Tutoring Experience

Recent experience of teaching Science to Key Stages 3 and 4, and Physics at A level, as well as running one to one and small group tutor sessions for A level students. I have mainly taught the AQA Physics A Specification with the Astrophysics options module, although I do have some experience with OCR too, and am willing to teach any exam board.

Although I have no formal Maths teaching or tutoring experience, I have included this in the subjects I can teach due to the major overlap with Physics, and my degree being 50% pure mathematics, and the experience I have tutoring the Maths elements of Physics.

Tutoring Approach

I like to work in an open and honest atmosphere; I find it best to listen to the ideas a student has already, and how their ideas relate to some applications so that we can work together to analyse their current understanding. This is only really viable when a student trusts that "getting it wrong" isn't something they should be embarrassed about, and that sharing their ideas is just as important as getting the right answer. In this way I try to deliver highly personalised tutoring to ensure progress.

This approach is highly effective as a revision approach, or as an introduction to new ideas, but of course the end goal is exam answers, so I often use applications similar to those used on exam papers. I employ a variety of different approaches when it comes to exam question practice, from discussing and answering together to answering alone and then comparing with model answers.
