This is how 2 referees rated Ashleigh:
I am enthusiastic about learning and teaching and I am keen to make a difference. A child's attainment is important to me and I have the patience and creativity to adapt and create teaching programmes to meet the needs of any child. I get on well with both children and adults and can quickly build positive relationships. I am a reliable person with key strengths of organisation and time management. I am committed to my job and proud to help any child succeed.
I have taught at early, first and second level, across classes P2 to P7. Most of my teaching experience has been in middle primary as this is where I am currently teaching. I am responsible for a composite P5/6 class of mixed ability. I have been trained in active literacy, behaviour management, outdoor learning and the effective use of ICT. I specialised in Additonal Support Needs whilst at uni and use this knowledge in every day teaching.
I believe in an interactive approach to teaching and learning. The children should be actively engaged in all learning. I will ensure the learning is relevant, making links with the real world and personalised to the child. I will adapt learning, where possible to include the child's hobbies or special interests. Assessment will inform the next steps within the learning, noting key strengths and weaknesses. I will provide praise that is both purposeful and meaningful, helping to build both confidence and knowledge for the child.
