Information About April - Loughborough tutor - (7 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated April:
I am a Clinical Scientist (MSc) at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, specialising in Haematology. I provide teaching as part of my job role, including medical students, nurses, qualified doctors and other scientists. I am also a STEM ambassador and provide interactive workshops in schools for GCSE students. This means I have a wealth of tutoring experience, and can adopt my tutoring style to fit the needs of the student and ensure they get the most out of each session.
I have an excellent academic record as I was awarded a Distinction in my Masters degree, in addition to being awarded the University of Nottingham School of Life Sciences Prize for research for my MSc research paper. I have also received a 2:1(Hons) BSc and 3 As at A-level (biology, chemistry and maths),with a further 2 As at AS level (geography and general studies). I specialise in biology tuition and am especially suited to those considering a biology based or medicine degree at university given my specialist interest in this area.
Whilst at university, I tutored several students in A-level Biology to prepare them for their exams. All saw a clear improvement in their grades following my tuition and seemed to respond well to my teaching methods. I continued this following graduation and found that my enthusiasm for biology engaged my students and allowed them to not only improve their knowledge, but also their confidence. I also teach as part of my job and as I have to present to various audiences, from GCSE students to qualified doctors, I am able to alter my teaching style to fit the needs of my students. I have experience of all mainstream examination boards and due to the nature of my job and degrees, I am more than capable of teaching A-level biology material to a high standard.
I am a friendly, patient and understanding tutor who recognises that not all students understand everything straight away and don't get frustrated by that fact. I try to show students a different view of the concepts they find difficult as this often helps, and try to create a relaxed atmosphere so tutees are comfortable to ask questions and explain which aspects they don't understand without fear of embarrassment. This then allows us to tackle these areas and make students feel confident in themselves.
