I am a graduate in Human Geography from the University of Edinburgh and lived and tutored in London and Edinburgh for over 5 years. I am now moving abroad to do a Master's Degree but will continue to offer online tuition. I am enthusiastic about learning and teaching. I have always done well at school and now want to help those who are having difficulties. I attended James Allen's Girls School from Year 7 to 13 so had to sit entrance exams thus am aware of what is needed to practice for such tests.
I have been tutoring for 5 years now both privately and, at times, for tutoring companies. The highest level I tutor is A-Level Geography (with successes of A*-B grades for my students this exam season just gone) and offer services up to university Geography level.
Prior to tutoring as my profession, I had experience teaching. I have three younger siblings and I helped them all prepare for their 11+ entrance exams to secondary schools.
Between September 2011 and April 2013, I volunteered once a week at the BayTree Centre in Brixton (London) where I taught maths to girls aged 8 - 18 years in an after school class.
At the beginning of 2013, I started to tutor a year 11 girl who was not doing very well in maths and wanted to pass her GCSE when she sat her exam in June (she passed with a C).
I try to be creative in my ideas when trying to teach and ensure understanding so do a preliminary assessment to try to develop an idea as how it would be best to approach the tutoring for the individual tutee e.g. using games, timed tests, worksheets/books etc.
I also believe that it is important to increase confidence towards a subject in order to progress and understand, thus, I have a very gentle and patient approach.
