Cottingham English and English (Foreign Language) Tutor

Hello potential tutees,
I'm Antonia and I'm an EAL teacher based in Hull.
I've been teaching English as an additional language overseas & in the UK for the last eight years working with students of all ages from primary school to adults.
I studied my BA (Hons) at the University of Leeds, my MA at the University of Hull and completed my Cambridge CELTA at LTC in Brighton.
I have taught in South Africa, South Korea, China, all around Europe and across the UK.
I enjoy literature, travel, music and the theatre. Most of all I enjoy seeing the development of my students and helping them achieve in a fun and relaxed environment!

Tutoring Experience

I've been teaching EAL for eight years in both private English language schools and state schools around the world, as well as tutoring 1-to-1.
I have prepared students for Trinity, Cambridge English (YLE, KET & PET), IELTS, Functional Skills and TOEFL exams.
The majority of my experience has been with young learners, although I have also taught adult ESL students both abroad and in the UK.
I have a real passion for what I do and I have had a 100% pass rate for exams and English for academic purposes.
I currently teach EAL to students at Wilberforce College as well as private students and teach EFL at the University of Hull. I am also currently studying a PGCE part-time to teach GCSE and A-Level English, film & media.

Tutoring Approach

I am a creative and energetic teacher dedicated to delivering the best education to my learners. I think building a good rapport with students is essential. I find it easy to connect with my students and encourage them to achieve their full potential. The balance of creating challenging yet achievable lessons is vital; I offer my students all the support they require to succeed.
I believe learning English should be a fun, interactive experience, particularly for young learners.
In my lessons I always endeavour to challenge my students through stimulating games and activities, to broaden their English experience with a variety of topics and knowledge (CLIL) and to encourage peer assessment and independent learning to give them the care and responsibility of their own education.
