Information About Anthony - Reading tutor - (9 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Anthony:
I am specialist teacher of mathematics and science at independent schools and sixth form colleges. I'm a Cambridge graduate myself, holding an honours degree in Mathematics and Education. I also have a first class degree in Biological Science. I am highly approachable and friendly.
PLEASE NOTE I AM CLOSE TO FULL UNTIL AFTER GCSE EXAMINATIONS BUT NOW RECRUITING STUDENTS WHO WISH TO GET AHEAD OVER THE SUMMER
As well as my general teaching experience I have been employed to design and deliver intensive revision and summer school programmes. I currently teach sixth form students in Oxford and provide private tuition in Reading.
I take a logical and straightforward approach to teaching that is often lacking in modern school. I deliver tuition that is based on sound understanding ,clear explanations, and demonstration of how to apply the knowledge in exams.
I don't subscribe to fashions in teaching that have no proper evidence to support them. What I offer is not a repeat of what goes on in school. I take clear and logical steps to take students from their current position to the level they need for exams. I cut out the confusion and waffle that often masks simplicity and this often makes it possible to cover substantial parts of courses surprisingly few sessions.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for general advice and I will do my best to help. If you are able to provide any details of the exam specification being taken and the units/modules where help is most needed that is very helpful in getting of to the most effective start. Thank you :-)

Although you have only seen Sam 3 times, he seems more confident with the Biology work that you have covered. I think initially he has been daunted with the sheer volume of revision needed and I think you are helping him see the links between different areas so, maybe, there isn't quite as much as he thought previously. Obviously, Sam is not aiming for a top grade but needs a decent grade so that he doesn't have to retake it next year - I think that would be extremely difficult for him as he will have left school. He seems to be engaging with the work more now so, hopefully, when he goes back to school and he is back in lessons, his interest will have increased. His teachers at school will also be giving him extra revision sessions so we're hoping this should pay off. With Sam, if his interest is there and he has confidence (and he likes the teacher) he usually does well in the end! So far, so good! Thank you for the work so far.
Thanks Anthony for all your work.
