** Currently taking on new students for academic year 2016-17 **
I graduated from University of Cambridge with a Masters in Engineering honours degree and now work as a professional aeronautical engineer in Bristol. Prior to university, I studied A-Level Maths, Further Maths and Physics, achieving A grades in all three.
I've always loved mathematics and I'm keen to offer my services as a tutor to help students reach their potential through A-Level.
I have tutored a vast number of students since Jan 2014 at a variety of ages and abilities. I have had one student go from a C at AS-Level to an A at A2-Level, and another jump two sets in year 10 maths in just a few months. As well as A-Level Mathematics, my tutoring experience covers GCSE Foundation & Higher, Junior and Intermediate Maths Olympiad and university level applied mathematics.
I provide a coaching approach personalised to the learning style and pace of the tutee. After a brief discussion to establish the topics of difficulty, I ensure the tutee understands the fundamentals before providing guidance through examples and practice questions. I will also emphasise the importance of structured answers and mathematical accuracy/rigour in the student's work, which builds good habits and exam technique. I usually work to directly support the students school syllabus, but will happily push the boundaries of the student's abilities into more advanced mathematics where appropriate.
