This is how 2 referees rated Annie:
Having graduated from Cambridge in 2011 with a Masters in Chemical Engineering, and studied Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Physics & Maths) in my first year I have a solid grounding in all physical sciences and maths. I have 5 ALevels at A grade (Further Maths, Maths, Music, Chemistry, Physics) and an AS Level in Biology.
I currently work as a Scientist for Procter & Gamble, in which my role is to communicate the science behind our products to the media. In addition to this, I am a STEM (science, technology, engineering & maths) ambassador; travelling to schools and science fairs across the country to inspire 15-18 year olds about careers in science.
I tutor around 3 students per week in the evenings and/or weekend, seeing all pupils through to the exams they are preparing for.
I have worked with a range tutoring agencies for 7 years teaching predominately GCSE and ALevels in all physical sciences and maths.
I started tutoring at the age of 17, as part of a scheme set up for sixth form students to tutor younger pupils in subjects they were struggling in. This was where I first found my passion for communicating science, and helping others to understand it clearly. I have since continued tutoring throughout university, and have now continued that on top of my profession, tutoring around 4 hours a week since graduating in 2011.
I want to make sure the student is involved at every step of the way. I make my lessons as interactive as possible, with examples and questions throughout. I am flexible on what material we cover, depending on whether the student wants to supplement their work at school, or learn new material. I like to structure my lessons such that the new concept is introduced at the start, followed by practicing this with various exercises and past papers. If a student has requests such as homework or coursework - this is always incorporated into the lesson.
