Annekatrin

Hello, my name is Annekatrin and I am a friendly, experienced and qualified teacher. I am a native German, and have lived and taught in the UK for over 18 years.

I am married with three children. My hobbies are walking, gardening, cooking and German Music, Film and Literature.

Since 2011 I have been working as a private tutor. I have helped many students improve their Grades at GCSE, IGCSE and A-level and have taught the complete syllabus to students who study at home.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 18 years teaching experience as a German teacher and Head of German. I have taught at Grammar schools, comprehensives and at home. I am particularly proud to say that all of my students have passed their GCSE and A-level exams with excellent results, securing places at Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, York, Exeter, Cardiff and Imperial College. One of the schools I worked at was rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted. I also have experience of conducting A- level oral exams for different Examination boards. I am teaching the current specification for AQA, Edexcel, Edexcel International A-level Edexcel, Cambridge Pre-U and WJEC. For GCSE and IGCSE I teach AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge IGCSE, Edexcel IGCSE and WJEC and others.

Tutoring Approach

Language tuition has been my passion for a long time and allows me to be supportive and creative, motivating pupils and believing in their abilities. One-to-one tuition is very productive, because it adapts to the individual learner's needs easily. I adjust my tutoring to the needs of the individual pupil, and I try to bring the best out in every student. I always discuss the needs of my new students carefully and aim to build their confidence. I find that practicing exam techniques invariable helps to rapidly improve grades. My experience in schools has given me the knowledge of the standards required at exams. I also have experience of harnessing individual learning styles and I love to make lessons fun with a variety of activities. I give guidance with research and preparation of the IRP, teach the essential ingredients for successful essay writing, practise exam techniques for Listening, Reading and Speaking and prepare all aspects of the exam, including summary writing and grammar. I also teach Film and Book studies (Good bye Lenin, Das Leben der Anderen, Andorra, Der Vorleser, Der Besuch der alten Dame and others). You can choose however many lessons you would like, and which particular topics or aspects of your course you would like to focus on.
